CARAMEL APPLE CRUMBLE
Gently spiced apples topped with a golden oat crumble, served warm and paired perfectly with a scoop of creamy dairy vanilla ice cream. It’s tangy, sweet and oaty. Bonus: Prep ahead and freeze the apple mixture for a quick and convenient dessert whenever the craving strikes!

Ingredients-
Apple Mixture:
- 3 regular cooking apples, chopped and peeled 
- 1 tbsp lemon juice 
- 1 tsp cornflour 
- 2 tsp white sugar 
- 1 tsp brown sugar 
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon 
Crumble Mixture:
- 1 mug plain flour 
- 1/2 mug cold butter 
- 1/2 mug white and brown sugar mixed 
- 1 tbsp oats 
Dairy Vanilla Ice Cream for serving
Instructions-
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. 
- In a microwave-safe dish, combine chopped and peeled apples, lemon juice, cornflour, white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Microwave for 4 minutes to soften. 
- Transfer the apple mixture to an oven dish for baking. 
- In a separate bowl, mix plain flour, cold butter, mixed white and brown sugar, and oats until crumbly. 
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the softened apple mixture in the oven dish. 
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the crumble is golden. 
- Serve the warm apple crumble with a scoop of dairy vanilla ice cream. 
Freezer Prep (3x500g bags):
Ingredients-
- 8-10 regular cooking apples, chopped and peeled (1400g in weight) 
- 1 1/2 lemons, juiced 
- 3 tbsp cornflour 
- 3 tbsp white sugar 
- 3 tbsp brown sugar 
- 1 tbsp cinnamon 
Instructions-
- Follow steps 2 and 3 from the main recipe without microwaving and mix well. 
- Once mixed, divide the apple mixture into 3 x 500g bags for convenient freezer storage.
